The harvesting period lasts from January to August, when workers continuously work under the scorching sun, which is essential for salt crystals to form. Each basket of salt weighs over 20 kg and are carried on the workers’ shoulders two at a time, to a stockpile for later processing. The work is strenuous, but it is the most stable and deep-rooted work to the people here.
