What can Louisiana do?

Following the Great Recession that started in 2008, we’ve all been struggling under the bailout of those who didn’t deserve one, clinging on to the scraps of trickle down math in its wake. It ain’t fair — we feel it and they know it. Question: Do we wait for the right thing to happen or demand immediate, forceful, works program style action?

Leverage. I love this word. But how and where can we put on pressure from these resources to make change? To make us some scratch? To better our environment?

Creating activist groups that use creative methods to implore representatives to vote forward is one way. Or just straight up getting vocal online and in person is another. Whatever the method, the goal must be to provide more options and benefits for everyone in the region. Not to suggest the ends justify anything. You know, like a “bail out” or something …

For a city under threat by water, for a people that stay up all night, for a world in need of different voices.
