What is Digitisation? The Basics.

Hello World!

When we hear the word Digital or Digitisation, the one thing comes in mind is internet. Well, that may be true for some extend. But, its not that simple, not very complex as well.

If we look into the defenation, it says, Digitisation is a process. a process through which all or some physical elements are converted into digital entities and stored and accessed using electronic devices on the internet.

Lets understand with a very simple example. Earlier people used to go to market or any specific shop to purchase something. Now, because of e-commerce sites, one can purchase any item without visiting any shop, sitting at home at own convenience, anytime of the day, from anywhere in the world, from a large variety of items. Therefore, it clearly shows how digitisation can help in the long run.

Now, digitisation may be done for few things or of all the components. For example, a shop keeper can do most of his work digitally with the help of internet, may be except storage. Or, an artist can use internet only for showing his skills to the world. Everything else will same as earlier. That means, digitisation is possible from a very small level to whatever extend.

The main objective of digitisation is to Reduce Friction. In simple words, to make any process easier. For any business or process, the main purpose is to reduce roadblocks so that the work can be done easily, and digitisation does the very same work in a very powerful manner.

Let me give you a very simple story of mine. I went to Guwahati few days ago and landed on the Bus Depot. I was hungry, I was unaware about the place. So I opened internet and searched Food near me. Imidientely it showed me some restaurents and food stalls nearby. I looked into the photographs, reviews, location, and start walking.

While walking, I saw a number of food stalls on the way. They were way closer to me. But I did not visited them. Because, I did not find them on the internet. I don’t know how their foods are, how the prices are, or how the reviews are. So clearly, the food stall I visited, used Google Business Profile tool to optimise his internet presence just by spending few minutes on his mobile phone free of cost. As a result he got so many customers like me. Ultimately, he just reduced friction between me and him.

Its a no brainer that digitisation is the best way out because it reduces a lot of friction, a less costlier option, and above all, day by day, number of internet users are increasing. Means, more and more people on internet.

Here are some ways to use internet and move towards digitisation absolutely easy and free of cost, considering that one have internet access and a electronic device like a mobile phone atleast.

Here are some steps to optimize your Google Business profile:

By following these guidelines, you can optimize your Facebook page to help grow your local business and reach your target audience.

Remember. Both the ways mentioned above are absolutely free, very easy, and gives impressive results. So, happy digitisation.

Thank you. Have a nice day.
