Acceptance

I feel this light radiate from my cheeks

Like I feel the love that I’ve always seeked

This calmness like you’d see love in my eyes

Like in every inch of my skin I have no shame to hide

I feel this beat in my heart, a lot happier

Like sadness just created a void in here

There’s this music between all the silence that my mind’s dancing to

Like being a truly happy soul was all it was ever taught to be

In between the celebrations, I decorate this void

With colors and lights and memories embodied

To keep the sadness company and make it feel at home at its arrival

And when she leaves, like the respected guest that she was

Made of a different body altogether, I will still feel the light

Through the skin of my cheeks and the folds of my eyes

I will sing and dance and twirl around even if it’s cold

I’ve learnt to embrace all the happiness and sadness that I can hold
